Northville: An Introduction to our Community
A friendly, small-town atmosphere combined with easy access to major commercial, cultural, educational and medical centers explains why Northville is an ideal location.
Downtown Northville is a diverse mix of shops, boutiques, galleries, theaters, restaurants, businesses and professional offices. Both the City of Northville and Northville Township place a strong emphasis on activities to enhance community life. Each year local festivals and events entertain residents and visitors.
The community’s heritage is visible in its Victorian-era architecture, as many businesses and homes in the surrounding neighborhoods have been lovingly restored to their original turn-of-the-century charm.
Located about 30 miles northwest of downtown Detroit, the Northville community lies at the northern edge of Wayne County and the southern edge of Oakland County. The city proper is comprised of 2.2 square miles, while the surrounding township includes 16.5 square miles.
Northville can be easily accessed off M-14 and I-96, both running east/west, or I-275 which runs north/south.
Northville is bordered by Livonia to the east, Plymouth to the south, Salem to the west and Novi to the North, all largely residential communities with retail areas, light industrial and high-tech businesses.
